This tour will visit Austria’s largest cement plant- Holcim’s production facility in Mannersdorf, AT. Founded 130 years ago, it is today a forward-looking, international model for cement production, sustainability and the circular economy. Join this tour to learn about the scale and technicalities of cement production, while reflecting how biochar can best align and integrate. This is a half-day tour.
Maximum participants: 55
This tour will begin with a visit to PurEnergy GmbH in Gänserndorf, AT—a biochar production facility using a Syncraft unit to produce multiple outputs, including biochar and heat for the local district heating network. The group will then travel to Mannersdorf, where Holcim will host a guided tour of Austria’s largest cement production facility, highlighting the operational and technical aspects of cement manufacturing. This is a full-day tour.

Visit one of Europe’s pioneers in biochar-based substrates and soil solutions. This tour will venture Riedlingsdorf AT to visit Sonnenerde GmbH’s biochar production facility. Visitors will get a detailed overview of the company’s Next Generation Elements (NGE) pyrolysis unit and how see the company’s biochar production is providing to the soil and agricultural markets. This will be a full-day tour.
